Artist, author and teacher Yvonne Porcella has moved forward the quilt revival through her cutting edge textile work in weaving, dyeing and quilting as well as through her organizational leadership. Her unique and strongly-colored wearables, wall hangings and quilts have been regularly featured in local, national, and international exhibitions of contemporary American quilt makers. Her work is actively collected and commissioned by individuals, museums, and corporations. She was inducted into the Quilter's Hall of Fame in 1998 and awarded with a Silver Star at International Quilt Festival in Houston. Her quilt titled "Keep Both Feet on the Floor" was featured in the exhibition and publication The Twentieth Century's 100 Best American Quilts.
A prolific author, Yvonne's books reflect the development of her artistic interests and she has taught and lectured throughout the world. As a founder of the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), she has played a leading role in the expansion of interest in art quilts. As a board member of The Alliance for American Quilts, she continues to build coalitions dedicated to recognizing quilt art.
