Every quilt created by the Inspiration Guild bears the name of someone touched by ovarian cancer: a caregiver, victim, a survivor, a fighter. In Honor of Sherie Hildreth

Sherie Hildreth is a native born Oregonian who resides in Gladstone, Oregon with her husband and two children. For the past 28 years, Sherie has been an educator within the Gladstone school system and an active community member. In October 2004 Sherie was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and took a leave of absence to undergo surgery and chemotherapy. Since education has been a major part of her life, there was a need to understand more about this chronic disease. Sitting still is not Sherie's style and the more she learned about Ovarian cancer the more she was determined not only to survive but to make a difference in the lives of other women who have also been diagnosed and to educate and promote awareness about Ovarian cancer. This life event motivated Sherie to create the Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Foundation to promote education and research for the prevention and cure of this disease. Sherie also founded HiLEK DESiGNS, a custom design manufacturer that makes "Hats of Empowerment". Her hats are designed with beads in the back to represent hair that has been lost. The proceeds from the sale of Sherie's hats and money that is raised from her Foundation's fundraisers are donated to the Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon for Ovarian cancer research.
