104. "A Tale of Four One-Patches" Michael Michalski Brooklyn, New York |
| Piecing - hand, english paper, foundation paper, fusible aw edge applique. Quilting - hand, tie, machine, free motion. Printed and batik cottons, cotton and rayon thread. |
| The versatile one-patch is often dismissed as a simplistic pattern, but looking at it evolution one can find many variations on a theme in regards to shape, color placement and complexity. The quilt I created for AAQ samples four designs evocative of different eras, vintage through contemporary. Various piecing and quilting techniques, as well as a choice of fabrics representative of those periods, demonstrates that with the one-patch something old has becoming something new. |
