| Inspired by a photo of a bird by Blanca Huntas. Cotton fabric, used a variety of threads - silk, poly and cotton. Free motion quilted the background. Cut branches and leaves free form fused into place and embroidered. Threadpainted bird and machine appliqued in place. |
| My inspiration came from fresh yellow leaves that jumped off the page of a brochure. Right away I remembered some old quilts I own depicting birds. Birds were a popular motif long ago and they were often hand appliquéd. Phooey on that, no time, so machine appliqué was my obvious choice. I thread painted the bird by itself and then appliquéd it onto my quilt. Quilters are so fortunate to have technology at our fingertips. |
