52. "Pieces of the Past: Grandma's Dresses" Shannon Liu Indianapolis, Indiana |
| Hand/paper piecing, machine piecing, hand quilting, computer (Photoshop) used to create pattern, hexagon pattern (made of fabrics from my grandmother's dresses). |
| This quilt of my grandmother’s dresses uses a simple hexagonal pattern in combination with a modern circular design. The circles are windows to my heritage. My grandmother passed along values, belief and a sense of what is beautiful. As in quilting, I take her legacy and build upon it – discarding, embracing, and refining pieces to create something new and unique, sewing scraps from the past together to establish something beautiful for future generations. |
