quilt
57. "Ohio Stars and Roots "
Meg Cox
Princeton, New Jersey
Commercial cotton fabric and photo printed on treated cotton. Pieced, appliquéd and quilted by hand.
I used the Ohio Star block because my family comes from Ohio. The two blocks honor my late mother, who taught me to quilt, and her sister, who encouraged her to quilt. The calligraphy comes from a piece my mother did for my aunt. That's my mother in the photo, from 1939. I did the piecing, appliqué and quilting by hand, because that was my mother's way.
