| Hawaiian Heaven was inspired by the beautiful vacations my mom and I have shared in the Hawaiian Islands. I used the theme for this contest as an opportunity to celebrate my quilting mentor, my mom. We created Hawaiian Heaven by using only fabrics we have collected over the years. My mom has always loved the piecing process and I have always enjoyed handy work. My mother beautifully pieced the pinwheels. I hand appliquéd the Hawaiian flowers and hand quilted the center of the quilt. The rest of the quilt was machine quilted by stitching in the ditch. Hawaiian Heaven was our first quilt we have done together but it will certainly not be our last! |
