36. "Toujour Le Nine-Patch"
Cynthia Claycamp
Seymour, Indiana
The double nine patch center block was found in a box of goodies at an auction, along with the tiny scrappy 9-patches. I set them together with Kaye England's "Voices of the Past" in tans and brown. The quilt was hand & machine pieced. Hand quilted by me.
When I married in 1965, my new mother-in-law was impressed by my seamstress ability to design and construct my wedding gown. She said "If you can sew you can learn to quilt!" So began my love of quilting. From flannel 9-patch baby quilts, to becoming a certified quilt appraiser, traveling to France to study fabrics, and making this tiny-scrappy 9-patch, the peace and satisfaction quilting brings me still grows.
