quilt
32. "Texture of My Life"
Patricia Bennett
Willoughby, Ohio
100% cotton, silk, satin, lace, polyester. Hand embroidery, machine embroidery, machine stitching, minor embellishments.
In determining the design for this quilt, I decided to make the “normal” crazy pattern and use fabrics that were part of moments in my life. I used pieces from clothing or quilts I had made for my grandchildren, The satin/silk pieces reminded me of the tranquil moments throughout my life. For the short-lived, rough times of my life, one piece of wool. I decided on the small area of embroidery as a remembrance of my grandmother who always embroidered her own bed linens. The little pearls were again my children, who are my joy. And lastly, a few quirky embellishments just for the fun of life. . . . Thus the name “TEXTURES OF MY LIFE.”
