| Original design using traditional blocks. Quilting cottons (including Kaufman batiks), cotton batting - warm and white, sulky and wuperior threads; paper piecing (moon), machine piecing and quilting, trapunto; designed on EQ7. |
| The word “patterns” spoke to me at two levels: one being patterns in nature, and the second, of course, quilt patterns. I placed several traditional star designs with their partner, the moon. This depicts the ancient alliance of these celestial bodies, as they watch over the Earth, governing seasons, travel, decisions, agriculture, birth and death (in belief if not actual science). |
