| 1880’s restored Bearpaw Album quilt. Many names of families are signed on this quilt piece. The original quilt size was 106” x 106”. Purchased in Vermont at a flea market outside Burlington. Sold as a “cutter”. I’ve held onto the quilt for five years refusing to cut it. The back of the competition quilt piece shows the entire state of the original quilt before restoration. Restoring 16 x 16 of the quilt made it more approachable as a restoration. I passionately refused to cut this beauty for five years because of the passion in its creation and families involved. Once I realized I was holding on so passionately to the quilt and only I was appreciating it. This contest allowed me to “passionately” restore it to be appreciated by many. |
