AAQ advertisement, December 2008/January 2009 Issue of Quilters Newsletter
The Alliance is asking quilt enthusiasts from inside and outside of the quilt world to tell us what they love about our projects and our mission to document, preserve and share the rich history of quilts and quiltmakers. We'd like to thank famed quiltmaker and teacher (and Alliance member) Ricky Tims for sharing his favorites with us.
You can find out more about Ricky and his work at his website: http://www.rickytims.com.
Also visit The Quilt Show's website: http://www.thequiltshow.com/ - hosted by Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson and featuring regular Alliance news in the Quilt Show Newsletter.
Message from Ricky:
"Quilts and computers are a perfect combination, which is why Alex Anderson and I put our television show, The Quilt Show, online, and have used the internet to build a large but active community of quilters worldwide. The Alliance for American Quilts is another example of how computer technology is creating a golden age of quilts. At the Alliance website, you can surf the history of American quilting and see outstanding quilts of every possible category, old and new. I find the Quilters' S.O.S. - Save Our Stories interviews especially inspiring and entertaining, partly because you get inside a quilter's creative process. I also love the Quilt Treasures web portraits and the thousands of quilts on the Quilt Index. I think the Alliance for American Quilts is invaluable for quilters everywhere, and it makes me feel good to know I'm helping this incredible resource keep growing."
