Mark Kornbluh

Mark Lawrence Kornbluh is Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of History at the University of Kentucky. Kornbluh is a specialist in Modern American political and cultural history. The author of Why America Stopped Voting: The Decline of Participatory Democracy and the Emergence of Modern Electoral Politics, 1880-1918, Kornbluh's historical scholarship focuses on political participation in the United States. Kornbluh has worked extensively in digital humanities. He founded and directed MATRIX: The Center for Humane Arts, Letters, and Social Sciences OnLine at Michigan State University for a decade. As Director of MATRIX, Kornbluh was involved in the conceptualization of the American Quilt Index and served as the principle director of the NEH and IMLS grants that supported the development of the Index.
