

Marin F. Hanson is the Curator of Exhibitions at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. She holds undergraduate degrees from Grinnell College (Grinnell, Iowa) and Northern Illinois University and earned her MA in museum studies and textile history with a quilt studies emphasis from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has curated and written catalogs for several exhibitions, including “Quilts in Common,” “Nancy Crow: Cloth, Culture & Context,” and “Reflections of the Exotic East in American Quilts.” She is the co-editor of American Quilts in the Modern Age, 1870-1940, the first publication in the International Quilt Study Center’s comprehensive series of collections catalogs (University of Nebraska Press, 2009). Her other publications include articles in the American Quilt Study Group’s monograph Uncoverings as well as in other textile-and history-related journals, including the UK-published Textile: the Journal of Cloth & Culture. Ms. Hanson’s current research interests include quilting and related textile techniques and traditions from China.
