Known for her cheerful embrace of color and her inventive techniques evoking “Why didn’t I think of that?” responses, Jodie is a teacher, designer of quilts and quilt-related products, and an award-winning TV host. Jodie’s passion is to spread the joy of making things.
While working on a tight deadline for a book of paper piecing designs Jodie started thinking whether it was possible to paper piece curves. With not a moment to spare to get the book out the door, she lay awake a few nights in a row going through the steps in her mind and finally got up and tried it in the wee hours. It worked! Why hadn’t anyone else thought of it?
As the author of thirty quilting books and a traveling teacher, Jodie looked to the airwaves to reach more people in her mission of spreading the joy of quilting. Right out of the box the very first episode of the show “Friends in the Bee” earned Jodie accolades as host and co-producer from her peers in the form of prestigious Communicator, Videographer and Telly awards. “Friends in the Bee” is Jodie’s answer to the question she is most often asked: “Where do you get your ideas?” The answer is “everywhere.”
From hosting and developing shows Jodie found herself hosting and now also at the helm of QNNtv, the Internet television channel devoted exclusively to quilting. Aggregating series made for traditional airwaves and creating shows exclusively for QNNtv, the network now airs over 1,000 shows on demand; by far the largest library of quilting videos anywhere. QNNtv has cut out the gatekeepers, putting decision-making for quilting programming in the hands of quilters and our industry.
Jodie’s mission at QNNtv is to spread the joy of quilting with this most powerful venue ever. Finally there is a place for quilters and will-be quilters to learn to quilt all day, any day. QNNtv was acquired by New Track Media in 2007 to join a quickly growing family of top quilting brands including Fons & porter’s love of Quilting and Keepsake Quilting. Quilters Club of America was launched in late 2007, as was the official publication of the Club Easy Quilts, and Love of Knitting magazine in fall of 2008.
Now Jodie is involved in and talent for the needle arts brands New Track has assembled. In addition to QNNtv, Jodie can be seen on public television, hosting on-location episodes and guest segments of Love of Quilting.
