Allison Ann Aller

Graduating in design from Cornell University in 1977, Allison has spent the thirty-two years since devoted to quilting, the last nine years as a full time studio artist in crazy quilting. She has written about it extensively in her popular blog, http://alliesinstitches.blogspot.com, which has a devoted international following. She has served as the Assistant Editor for the only publication devoted solely to crazy quilting, www.CQMagOnline.com, where she currently contributes quarterly feature articles.

Her quilts have won several national awards: First Place at the American Quilters Society show in Nashville, Tennessee, 2003; a finalist in the $100,000 Quilting Challenge in 2007; First Place in the Alliance for American Quilts “My Quilts/Our History” contest in 2008; and she has won Second Place in the Embellished Quilts category of the International Quilt Festival’s Houston show in 2008.

Her contribution to the Way to Women’s Wellness Foundation’s annual artbra calendar was on the cover in 2007. Her quilts have been published in American Quilter magazine and in the book, Luscious Landscapes, by Joyce Becker, C&T Publishing, 2003.

She has begun teaching crazy quilting professionally, and has many stitching and literary projects in the works. Allison lives in the country outside of Portland, Oregon, is married, and has two fine grown sons.
