"Home Is Where the Quilt Is"
June 1st deadline for our 2012 quilt contest nears!
The 2011 contest quilt auction raised over $12,000. AAQ members and quiltmakers everywhere, will you resolve to help us raise $15,000 in the 2012 auction? This year’s contest theme is “Home Is Where the Quilt Is,” a celebration of the form and the meaning of Home. Use any medium, any technique and any approach--traditional or non--to create a house-shaped quilt. You could win the Grand Prize, a Handi Quilter machine quilting system! Royal Alberta Museum Quilts Added to The Quilt Index
The Royal Alberta Museum boasts a fine collection of about 75 quilts related to the province's history, and so far about 45 of them have been posted to the Index's online archive. Eventually, many more of the vintage quilts in the museum's collection will be added, as well as other heritage quilts that are still being documented from regional museums and private collections. Read the full press release here or click here to view the quilts on The Quilt Index including the Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt pictured at left.

Sixteen more quiltmaker's stories saved!
We already have more than 1,000 inspiring and informative interviews with today's quiltmakers in our Q.S.O.S. oral history collection and we add new ones constantly, but it's particularly exciting to announce our latest additions to the project. These 16 quiltmakers reflect the truly astonishing diversity of people quilting in the 21st century. You will see traditional quilters, art quilters, male and female quilters, internationally famous quilters and those whose remarkable works are known only to a small circle of family and friends. Click here to read our eNewsletter with links to these Q.S.O.S. interviews, including one with textile design icon Kaffe Fassett, pictured at left.
